A face rendered like a heat signature — reds, greens, and gold mapping the structure beneath the skin — holds a steady, forward gaze from inside a woven, multicolored border, as though looking past the pattern that frames him rather than through it. Below the chin, warm foliage spills loose and unstructured, the one part of the piece allowed to drift — but the eyes stay fixed ahead, unmoved by everything gathering around them.
